Hope with Faith equals Tender Mercies
On Wednesday, March 18, 2009, my youngest daughter JuliAnn was scheduled to deliver a baby boy. However, I was informed not to go to the Hospital on that day, but I was to wait until Thursday, March 19, 2009 to be at the hospital for a once in a lifetime event of a newborn grandson.
However, since I was not able to go to the Hospital on Wednesday, March 18, 2009, I decided to attend the Ogden Temple.
However, I was in the Ogden Temple Ladies Restroom washing my hands when I heard a lady inquire: " You look familiar to me, do I know you?" I looked at the woman standing wiping her hands with the paper towels who had posed the question. I inquired, "Are you Mrs. Christensen?" She said, "Yes, I am." I said, "Sue's mom." At that time, Mrs Christensen looked at me startled and replied, "Yes, I am."
I reminded her that I was married to Ron Terrys' older brother, Jerry Terry. She asked how I was doing. I replied that I was there at the Ogden Temple because my daughter, JuliAnn was giving birth to a baby boy on that particular day. She brought up the struggles in her own life and as long as we are doing our best she reminded me this is all that is expected of each of us. We continued to talk while we were alone in the Woman's Restroom.
Then, in the endowment session, I turned to a young lady next to me and explained that my daughter was giving birth to a baby boy. She mentioned, "Congratulations." I replied, "Thank You." The session continued as a normal session.
The reason I am writing this on the blog page is because it was not until I was in the endowment session that I realized that JuliAnn and Trevor were very close cousins. She mentioned that she would call Trevor anytime just to talk with someone. The coincidence is Trevor is on the other side of the veil and baby boy Robert Tanner was saying his goodbyes to Trevor & Sue as well as others in our families. The timing of meeting Mrs Christensen (Sue's mother and Trevor's Grandmother on that particular day in my opinion is not a coincidence.) Robert Tanner was preparing to gain a petite body and leave his heavenly experience while we here on earth were anxiously waiting to welcome him to this earth life.
I was sitting in the Celestial room contemplating a lot of events in my life. Unknown to me the young lady who sat next to me in the endowment session came over to where I was sitting and knelt on the floor next to the chair. She opened her hand and inside the palm of her hand was a silver round ring. She asked me if I knew what was engraved on the ring. I informed her I did not know. She responded that she had just returned three weeks ago from the Sacramento Mission. The words engraved on the ring stated: "RETURN WITH HONOR." She pushed her hands toward me and said, " I would like you to have this ring." I was surprised! I informed her that I have a son who would be departing the LTC in Provo, Utah, the following Monday to serve as a missionary in Merida Mexico. She said, " When your grandson is old enough give to him this ring. I would like to give this ring to you." I was stunned. The spirit in which she presented the ring will mean more to me than this young lady will ever know. The timing so precious and meaningful in my life.
To briefly mention my feelings is at that moment sitting in the Celestial Room, I knew that this young lady was inspired to donate the ring "RETURN WITH HONOR" to me. Through her inspiration at that time, when I felt soooo alone I knew that by her giving this ring to me I would be enlightened to know that Heavenly Father really does know who I am, my thoughts, my intentions, and my desires. I was thrilled for this tender mercy that I received even though I was not at the Hospital to be there on the day Tanner was born into this world. I explained to this sister as we departed that what she had just donated to me willingly meant much more to me than she would ever realize. We departed as sisters in the Gospel of Jesus Christ because his gospel is of service and caring for one another even if it is just a ring that is engraved: RETURN WITH HONOR!
